The Quick and Easy
When: October 25th-28th
Where:11 venues all over Seattle
Why: Four days of Electronic Music Performance, Visual Art and New Media
The Decibel International Festival of Electronic Music Performance, Visual Art and New Media has become the best event of its kind in North America. Now in its fifth year, the four-day festival is held each year in September at 11 venues all over Seattle including Neumos, The Triple Door, Chop Suey, Sole Repair, The Baltic Room, and The Grey Gallery & Lounge.
You don’t have to be an expert in electronica to enjoy the festival; Decibel offers a variety of performances, workshops, and other events to give you a taste of everything. This year’s lineup boasts more than 120 acts from 12 different countries. The most diverse since the festival’s inception, it features Helios, Welder, Nalepa, and Jahcoozi. SuperMayer, Warrior Queen, The Bug, and Flying Lotus will close out the festival at Nuemos on September 28th.
There are all-ages daytime events including a two-day conference, multimedia showcases, and a free concert in the park. The DB Conference will feature demo booths, merchandise, and the opportunity to work with audio and video manufacturers. Other workshops will be offered in everything from digital audio sequencing to hardware integration. This will take place Sept. 26-27 at the Northwest Film Forum. Doors open at 12 p.m.
Decibel will be also be hosting two Optical Multimedia Showcases that will explore the relationship between visual art and electronic music. These are all-ages and will be held on Sept 26-27 at the Northwest Film Forum at 6 p.m. This year will also feature a free outdoor live music showcase in Volunteer Park with Glitch Mob, Jacob London, Truckasaurus, Michael Manahan, and Noisemaker.
The Decibel BBQ is another fun event for the 21+ crowd. Wingin’ It BBQ will be cooking up the food while Jeremy Ellis, SunTzu Sound, Caro, and Kid Hops perform. This will be held on September 28th at Havana’s at 1 p.m.
