For most Seattlites Green Lake is just a lake: a popular and beautiful exercise location for jogging, biking, swimming, and rowing. It’s a place to play volleyball, hold softball tournaments, walk the dog, and get a tan. This North Seattle neighborhood is also, not coincidentally, a great place to live.
Apart from the lake and park, Green Lake is mostly residential. For shopping needs, it is reliant on the nearby Roosevelt and Wallingford neighborhoods. Green Lake has a
public library, but no major grocery store and only a handful of bars and restaurants. But by encompassing one of Seattle’s most popular weekend hangouts and adjoining both
I-5 and the
Aurora-99 highway, the neighborhood is the height of convenience for commuters. In the last ten years, major home construction and renovation have been underway—from multi-story houses to apartment buildings. For a growing number of young families, Green Lake, is more than just a lake, it’s home.
