Centennial Days Celebration
Friday, August 10
- Celebrate Pike Place Market's 100th birthday at the 12th Annual Sunset Supper. Wine, dine and dance the century away on the cobblestone street at the heart of the Market. Enjoy culinary delights, world-class wines and meticulously crafted microbrews from 70 of the Northwest's finest restaurants, wineries and breweries. Then dance under the stars to live hits from funk and soul band Soul'd Out.

Saturday, August 11
- The Centennial Days Stage opens with music by Total Gospel Experience at 1130am and Deems Tsutakawa Group at 1:30 pm; a chef demo at 1pm; Children's Hospital will have a 10x10 spot w/kids activities and the Woodland Park Zoo will occupy at 10x10 spot also with family activities.
Sunday, August 12
- The Centennial Days Stage opens with the Fabulous Roof Shakers and will host the Roy Kay Trio in the afternoon; Summer Sunday farmers market will take place along with a chef demo at noon; the Day of Puppetry will take place from 10am-4pm and Voices of the Market will be held at the Top of the Market from 1pm-4pm.
Monday, August 13
- The Centennial Days Stage will host the Keteeya Dance Troupe followed by Salsa Jazz Cuban; the Seattle Sounders will make an appearance at 12 noon hosting a game for kids and a chef demo will happen at 1pm.
Tuesday, August 14
- The Centennial Days Stage will host the annual DSA Out to Lunch concert series featuring Leroy Bell and his Friends at noon; a chef demo will take place at 1pm.
Wednesday, August 15
- The Centennial Days Stage will host Sonando followed by the Brian Butler Band and a chef demo at 1pm. We're also hosting our street market Organic Wednesday from 10am-4pm.
Thursday, August 16
- The Centennial Days Stage will host Pearl Django followed by the Jason Parker Group and a chef demo at 1pm.
Friday, August 17 HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY
- 8am-9am - Starbucks Coffee & Le Panier Onion Tarts/Arcade near Flower Row
Free coffee and onion tartlets will be shared with the public and served-up by the Pike Place Starbucks team, members of Seattle's City Council and members of Friends of the Market.
- 9:30am - Re-enactment of August 17, 1907/Pike Place & 1st Ave
Just like the Market's first day of operation horse-drawn flat wagons heaped with produce provided by Pike Place Farmers will pull into the Market and park in the near-same spots they did in 1907. Consumers can buy directly from the Producer off these wagons during the day. Actors from Unexpected Productions in period dress circa 1907 will arrive and purchase produce from the wagons and engage in a five minute play about commission houses vs. the public.
- 10am-11:45am - Centennial Days Stage on Pike Place
To get the day going some of the best-loved Market Buskers will perform from the Centennial Days stage.
- Noon-12:45pm - Lunchtime Program - Pike Place Market:100 years, 100% Seattle
Opening remarks by Mayor Nickels and Carol Binder, PDA Executive Director. Other speakers include Randy Revelle and Frank Blethen, publisher of the Seattle Times. Awards will be presented to the:
Longest serving/selling farmer at Pike Place Market;
Longest serving/selling crafts community member at Pike Place Market;
Recognition of the Market's "founding families" including the Revelle; Goodwin and Desimone Families;
Community leader(s) who've made an impact on the Market;
Market Foundation donors/founder(s)
- An aerial photograph will be taken at approximately 12:30pm when the lunchtime program emcee quest the audience to look skyward.
- The official Market birthday cake sponsored by the Constituency will be presented at 12:40pm and served to the public by constituency members.
- 1pm-5pm - Seattle Celebrates its Market
Street activities from south to north on the cobblestones of Pike Place include our weekly Farm Fridays farmers market event; three Market-based chef demos on the Seattle Weekly Culinary Stage at Pike & Stewart at 1pm, 2:30pm and 4pm; a Kids Zone including a Mr. Onionhead game, the famous Fish Toss tournament and Zucchini 500. Special guest J.P. Patches will be on hand.
- At 1:45pm - We'll host the Centennial Championship Salmon Toss with Pike Place Fish on the street near Corner Produce. Winners from the 15 summer events and festivals we've participated in will be invited to participate in a "real" toss with grand prize to be had.
- A roving Buskers stage (vintage 1936 International truck) will be a part of the scene and parked on Pike Place as an additional spot for Buskers to perform.
- The 12' x 20' Pigs on Parade float (a replica of Rachel the Pig) will take up residence at the intersection of Pine & Pike Place.
- The Centennial Days Stage will host live music - two acts with the first starting at 2pm and followed by a 3:30pm performance.
- Also, four artist-decorated Pigs will be on hand throughout the day.
- 6pm-10pm - Market Party in Steinbrueck Park (Western Ave. closed at 6pm)
An eclectic assemblage of some of the best-known and well-respected musical talent to come out of Seattle in 20 years will be on hand to usher the Market into its second century. The evening will open with some of our own Market-based talent.
