Fourth Of July
It seems like every neighborhood in Seattle and the surrounding area has their own fireworks display. But the best fireworks aren't always right next door. We've compiled a list of Fireworks displays and other July 4th events so you can choose where to spread out your blanket and take in the pyrotechnics. As a side note, keep in mind that personal fireworks in Washington are banned (or restricted, depending on your area). We're not trying to tell you what to do or not to do, but there's a nice list of places to look at personal fireworks here.

Greater Seattle
Tons of events (twice as many as last year) for kids and adults alike at Gasworks Park. Karaoke, Face Painting, a Human Gyroscope, and fire truck slide are just a few of the great things to do before the fireworks. There will also be a beer garden for those over 21. Events start at noon. Fireworks at about 10. This is my personal pick for fireworks viewing because Gasworks is a really interesting place and the day events are fun for everyone. I mean, where else can you embarrass yourself doing karaoke in front of thousands of people?

Jazz guitarist Michael Powers, and children's entertainers Bobs & Lolo will be at the Seattle Aquarium for this great family event. The outdoor pier is the perfect place to view the spectacular Elliott Bay fireworks, then beat some of the post-fireworks traffic by hanging out with the fish until midnight! Tickets are $20-$28.

2007 marks the 43rd year of this event. Ivar's sponsors the fireworks that are displayed over Elliott Bay, and shown on KOMO 4. Myrtle Edwards is a great place to watch, plus you can tune your radio to STAR 101.5 to listen to simulcast music. Unfortunately, there will be no day-event this year. Fireworks start at 10pm(ish)

The Space Needle provides the most perfect vantage point for viewing the fireworks around Seattle. Not only can you view more than one display, but there will also be fun activities and you can hang out inside in case of rain while still getting a great view. The Sky City restaurant is also offering a fixed price 4th of July menu ($195 per person.) The only catch is this is the most expensive place in town to be. $40 for adults, $17 for kids age 4-13. Festivities start at 9:15.

The Eastside
A Family Fun Zone (with moon bounces!), food court and a stage with live entertainment will keep you occupied before the eastside's largest fireworks display at 10pm. Takes place at Bellevue Downtown Park. The fun starts at about 5pm.

Kirkland holds an old-fashioned 4th of July celebration with a kiddie parade, community picnic with egg tosses, duck dashes and three legged races, and a fireworks display over Marina Park. Events start at 10am, fireworks start at 10pm.

Up North
An old-fashioned 4th of July celebration with a 5k fun run, children's parade, main parade and activities in the park. Fireworks begin at 10pm.

Down South
The name "Freedom Fair" has bad connotations in my mind, but that doesn't mean it's a bad event. Along with the standard fireworks, Tacoma will also have an outdoor market, dragon boat races, an air show, a classic car show and live jazz and blues. Maybe there will even be freedom fries!

Gene Coulon Park is the site for the annual Fabulous 4th of July event. There will be great kids activities (more inflatable fun) and live music all day. Thar park opens at 7 am in case you're really picky about your fireworks watching spot. There will also be BBQ, espresso and food from kidd valley and Ivars available (because you'll be hungry if you got there at 7am.) There will also be a parking shuttle so you don't have to fight for parking near the park.

Starting at 4pm, Federal way's Celebration Park will be abuzz with activity. From the music stage, to the Dance stage and the sports clinics, it will be hard to get bored. The fireworks, of course, start at 10pm.

Auburn has all the standards of a 4th of July celebration: inflatable rides for the kids, a parade, musical entertainment. What sets them apart is that they have someone called The Parrot Lady. Is she a lady who's a parrot or a lady with parrots or a lady who talks like a parrot? My advice is you should go to find out. Also, Bocce and Lazer tag. Oh yeah, and fireworks.
