Do you have no idea what to get your lover for Valentines Day? Here’s a list of inexpensive items and gestures that will score you major points and stretch your creative energy.

Cook them a meal or better yet, cook one together[top]

  • You know their favorite cuisine, so look up an easy recipe and throw something together over a bottle of wine. You can even share the experience of cooking. Make sushi together or stir fry up your shared favorites for a bit of a smorgasbord.

Customized t-shirt or sweatshirt [top]

  • This is one of my favorites. Find an old t-shirt of theirs or buy one at the store. Find a funny film quote or song lyric and get it printed on a shirt. Try some Shakespeare or Caddy Shack.

A night of massage and pampering [top]

  • Stretch those hands and fingers, buy some sweet smelling lotions and give them a night of pampering. A nice candle lit back and neck massage, or foot massage. Run a salt bath for them; while you’re cooking dinner and cater to their every need.

Create a personalized CD compilation[top]

  • Take some their old favorite music and compile it together with new music to surprise them. Burn it onto a disc that they can listen to when your not around. Music, the gift that keeps on giving. Make sure to include “our” song it.

All you crooners, bards, songsmiths and troubadours, make some music[top]

  • For the musically talented, create a little tune, jingle, ditty or whatever about your lover. Be creative, try not to be too sappy and present it to them with a ukulele, harp or electric guitar. You’ll score major points for this one.

Picnic in February [top]

  • Bundle up and head down to the lake, park, beach and  pack some fancy sandwiches and a nice bottle of wine or sparkling cider. Make it romantic and bring blankets and a pillow and make sure to check the weather report.

A home made necklace or bracelet[top]

  • Take some string and braid something, find some beads at the craft store that you think they’ll like and string it together. Or get some yarn of their favorite colors and piece together a bracelet that you know will remind them of you. Something that every time they look down at their wrist, they smile and think of you.
