LOLA

Equal parts stylish Belltown and traditional Greek taverna, Lola is chef Tom Douglas' inventive Northwest nod to Mediterranean cuisine. Warm, earthy colors and hand-painted chandeliers create a rustic elegance that is unfortunately marred by an almost deafening decibel level. Lola's unpretentious ambiance makes it a good choice for a casual business lunch or mid-afternoon post-shopping respite with a friend. Adjacent to the trendy Hotel Andra, Lola's buzz is vibrant. Don't expect hearty Greek fare but a more refined interpretation and relatively small portions. Lunch favorites: Mediterranean spreads; salmon or lamb kebabs served with tiny warm pitas and garlic smashed potatoes; juicy lamb burger with crispy chickpea fries

Purple Café and Wine Bar

With its spectacular view of the Seattle skyline and Mt. Rainier, this casual bar and grill is the perfect place to take out of town guests or play hooky on a sunny Friday afternoon. Located below the elegant Palisades Restaurant, Maggie Bluff's isn't on anyone's list of trendy lunch spots, but the stunning location and hearty pub-style food make is a great choice for a lingering, laid-back lunch. You can check out boats in the Elliot Bay Marina from the outdoor patio, or sit in the nautical-themed dining room. The view, unpretentious comfort food and good beer selection make Maggie Bluff's one of Seattle's best summer lunch spots. Lunch favorites: hot open-faced crab and artichoke sandwich, bucket of Manila clams in a spicy broth, juicy blue cheese burger with caramelized onions.

Lunch at this stylish storefront bistro is like a dreamy visit to France. Tall glass windows and creamy pastel walls create an open, airy ambiance in this refined café. It's location in quirky Freemont keeps the 35th Street Bistro from taking itself too seriously. The menu offers a small but exquisite selection of simply presented, perfectly prepared French bistro fare. Although tables are a bit close together, there's no way not to fall in love with this charming café. Allow time to linger over bottle of wine from their small but well-chosen list, or a cup of robust coffee.
