Seattle Shopping Guide

By Seattle.net Staff

Seattle may not be the fashion capitol of the world but it is slowly and surely working its way up on the list of the most stylish cities in the US. The shopping scene in the city is as diverse as its neighborhoods. While the Fifth Avenue boutiques can satisfy one’s craving for a new Louis Vuitton bag or the latest fashions from the leading European and American designers that can be found at Nordstrom or Barneys New York, small local stores tucked away in various neighborhoods of the city feature everything from local designers to the latest trends in Brazilian fashion.

Belltown holds numerous home décor and furnishing stores with most of the city’s architecture and advertising agencies located by their side. If you are looking for a rare record or this season’s men’s fashion then Capitol Hill is the place to check out. University District is mainly known for its second hand/vintage stores with the city’s two largest ones located on the same block of University Way. Ballard is the most diverse of the neighborhoods in Seattle when it comes to shopping. Here you will be able to find the city’s largest vinyl record store, boutiques inspired by Paris, a garden design studio full of exotic plants, stores devoted entirely to handbags created by local designers and many more unique places to shop.

To enhance your shopping experience in Seattle we created a Shopping Guide for you. Organized by neighborhoods our guide caters to different tastes and accommodates various needs.

Downtown Shopping Guide

Be in the middle of it all, shop downtown. Downtown Seattle has about everything you could imagine in a shoppers dream; big department stores, small quaint boutiques and the biggest in fashion. Ride the Monorail, visit the Space Needle, shop Pike Place, do it all in Downtown Seattle.

Pioneer Square Shopping Guide

Red bricked cobblestone streets, underground Seattle, art galleries everywhere; where are you? Pioneer Square. In this popular tourist destination you’ll find great galleries on every corner and plenty of Seattle heritage. Just make sure you’re not down there on a Seahawks game day.

University District Shopping Guide

When you get through the droves of University students and Ave. rats (a stark juxtaposition, you’ll see) and are able to get down to the nitty gritty you’ll find some great shops hidden among the pho and coffee joints. The Ave. shopping is a lot of combed-over used clothing and CD stores, but there are always gems to be found.

Fremont Shopping Guide

In a neighborhood that calls itself the “center of the universe” you don’t have to go far to get what you want. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and bars to keep you fueled and busy all day.

Ballard Shopping Guide

Most people would say that Ballard is the last place they would go to do there holiday shopping. They’ll find though when you dig below the surface of this nightlife and Scandinavian clad neighborhood you’ll find quite a few shops that put a spell over you as does the sea salt in the air.

Capitol Hill Shopping Guide

Another hipster’s paradise. Where’s Michelle Pfeiffer when you need her? I laughed the other day when I saw an online shopping guide to “How to be a hipster”, featuring different shopping locations of Capitol Hill, oh well you can’t help everyone.

Belltown Shopping Guide

With its high-rise condos, chic restaurants and clubs it’s not suprising that Belltown would have a well rounded variety of shops. Catch some sushi and a martini and hit the streets to find what you want in one of Seattle’s trendiest neighborhoods.
