First Thursday Art Walk
Ever since the mastermind behind the Fremont Troll’s decided to
chisel a pair of eyes, a nose and a beard underneath the Aurora Bridge,
Seattle has morphed into a full-fledged contributor to the American
up-and-coming art scene. Because of the city’s love of the arts and
off the wall sense of style, Seattle is the perfect place for both
professional and amateur artists to exhibit their work. Beginning in Pioneer Square over 20
years ago, First Thursdays have since become a
staple in the art scene. On the first Thursday of every month galleries
and artists in Pioneer Square open their spaces for art patrons and browsers to see a variety of art
in one grand swoop. Over the years both neighborhoods from Ballard to
Capitol Hill have followed Pioneer Square’s lead, choosing their own days to
have traditional artist’s receptions and openings. Visit the Art Guide Northwest website for a full listing of all the art walks in the Seattle area and other art events.

Sponsored by the Starbucks Coffee Company, Art in the Park is an event within First Thursday Art Walk in which artists can set up a vending area in Occidental Park and sell their wares. Paintings, photography and jewelry are common but there is always something unusual. Vending takes place from Noon until 9pm. Click on our Art in the Park link to find out more information about location and how to become a vendor.
